Welcome to SonicType. By downloading, installing, or using our application, you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms"). Please read them carefully.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By using SonicType, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, do not download, install, or use the application.

2. Description of Service

SonicType is a macOS application that provides:

• Voice-to-text dictation using on-device AI (WhisperKit)
• AI-powered grammar correction using on-device language models (MLX)
• Global hotkey activation for system-wide dictation
• Automatic text insertion into active applications

All processing occurs locally on your Mac. No data is transmitted to external servers during normal operation.

3. System Requirements

SonicType requires:

• macOS 14.0 (Sonoma) or later
• Apple Silicon Mac (M1, M2, M3, or newer)
• Microphone access
• Accessibility permissions for text insertion

4. License

Subject to your compliance with these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to download, install, and use SonicType on Mac computers that you own or control, for your personal, non-commercial use.

5. Restrictions

You agree not to:

• Copy, modify, or distribute the application
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the application
• Remove or alter any proprietary notices or labels
• Use the application for any unlawful purpose
• Attempt to circumvent any security features
• Use the application to process content that infringes on others' rights

6. Intellectual Property

SonicType, including its design, features, code, and technology, is owned by Bloomstack and protected by intellectual property laws. These Terms do not grant you any rights to our trademarks, logos, or branding.

7. Third-Party Components

SonicType incorporates open-source components:

• WhisperKit: Licensed under MIT License
• MLX: Apple's machine learning framework

Your use of these components is subject to their respective licenses.

8. AI Model Usage

The AI models used for transcription and grammar correction are downloaded from Hugging Face. Your use of these models is subject to their respective licenses (typically Apache 2.0 or MIT). The models are used solely for local processing on your device.

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

SONICTYPE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

• Merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose
• Accuracy or reliability of transcription or grammar correction
• Uninterrupted or error-free operation
• Compatibility with all applications or workflows

10. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, BLOOMSTACK SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

• Loss of data or content
• Transcription errors or inaccuracies
• Interruption of business or workflow
• Any damages arising from your use or inability to use the application

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Bloomstack from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses arising from your use of SonicType or violation of these Terms.

12. Updates and Modifications

We may release updates to SonicType from time to time. These updates may include bug fixes, new features, or changes to existing functionality. Your continued use of the application after an update constitutes acceptance of any changes.

13. Termination

These Terms are effective until terminated. Your rights under these Terms will terminate automatically if you fail to comply with any of its provisions. Upon termination, you must cease all use of SonicType and delete all copies from your devices.

14. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by updating the "Last Updated" date. Your continued use of SonicType after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.

15. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction in which Bloomstack operates, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.

16. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
